"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in Righteousness He doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire ,and on His head were many crowns; and HE has a name written, that no man knew but Himself. And HE was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word Of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS,AND LORD OF LORDS."

The Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ as it was given to the Apostle John, Chapter 19 verses 11-16

"Let every student be plainly instructed and earnestly pressed to consider well, the main end of his life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ which is Eternal Life, and therefore, to lay Christ in the bottom, as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and learning. And seeing the Lord only giveth wisdom, let everyone seriously set himself by prayer in secrete to seek it of Him."

Clergyman John Harvard, Harvard University 1636

The question every professing Christian must ask, and seriously consider, is whether or not Jesus Christ, the Sovereign LORD, is the LORD and Master of their life? Either He is Our God and Governor of Our life and faith, or He is not. There is no middle ground.

The individual who truly professes Christ, cannot, serve both God and mammon. The modernized Church of Jesus Christ is full of poor souls who profess one thing with their lips, but with heart, and life, deny the Sovereign claim which Christ has over them.

The Lord Jesus warns,

"Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? And in Thy name cast out devils? And in Thy name done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity,"                                      Matthew 7:22-23

It is the following verse, however, which lays the axe unto the root.

Therefore, whosoever heareth these sayings of Mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a Rock.                  V24

When faced with abstract doctrine, and religious concepts, many in the  church often able to stand strong and proclaim unreserved devotion, trust and allegiance to the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet, when the need for the application of such doctrine must come into the realm of reality, the "professor of Religion" falters and fails, thus clinging to manís lying wisdom, forsaking the True Wisdom of God.

Whether this hypocrisy is willful, or practiced out of ignorance, one thing is to be sure, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Hosea 4:11 . Once the Precepts of Holy Writ are forced out of the Religious vacuum and into the hard cold reality of the world, the people seek refuge in manís inventions, and not in faithfulness toward God. To practice conformity to Godís Word in everyday life is becoming less and less popular among the Christian Community. Today's so-called Christian has conveniently chosen the smooth things out of the Law and forsaken the more difficult commandments. This, the church has done unto her own destruction.

The Secrete Idolatry of the Modern Church

The Church faces a serious problem. It has exchanged its open idolatry for a more palatable idolatry. It has exchanged its open rebellion for a new mask of secret rebellion. It has decomposed, to such an extent, as to replace God, and the Salvation that comes only from Jesus Christ, with the worship of man and manís ideas, as a form of salvation.

Ask any Christian parent what is the practical focal point of their childrenís life, and they will ultimately say "education". Yet, the "education" they practice is not the Biblical Education of the Scriptures. It is rather a counterfeit education, conducted by the pagan state schools who "know not God nor teach the knowledge of the Holy". In fact, these immoral and unbiblical institutions outright reject God and threaten legal action against all those who bring God into the public school system.

This "Educational Messiah" concept of state schools has become epidemic, and has infected the majority of Christian families. For some families it is too late. For others there is still hope. But God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man soweth, that also shall he reap. Sow the wind, and you'd better be prepared to reap the whirlwind. The external church thinks that because they are "civilized religious Christian folks" they are immune from "barbarism and idolatry".

Righteous Sanctions

The church has also fallen prey to the wicked notion that outright disobedience of Godís standards will not bring about Godís sanctions against them. Thus, in their error, the church denies the clear warnings of Deuteronomy 28 and Leviticus 26. The modern external church is full of parents that systematically lie to themselves, thinking the godless society of state education will not harm their children. Nothing can be farther from the truth. The Prophet Elijah still poses to us the question asked of ancient Israel in 1 Kings 18:21,

"If the LORD be God, then worship Him. But if Baal be god, then worship him."

The astounding lesson which comes from this account is that the children of Israel, who are representative of us today in the Church, answered not a word. They werenít quite sure who exactly was their God. They were confused, frightened, feeble and faithless. Today we face exactly the same problem. We have been inundated with the comforts and cares of this world so much so, as to choke out the practice of Biblical standards in our daily lives. We have become so fearful and intimidated by the Big Government of Ahab and Jezebel as to become impotent, even to the extent of sacrificing our own sons and daughters to the gods of the socialistic, anti Christian education system of Moloch, the Corporate unconstitutional United State.

These words may seem harsh, yet they are merely a distillation of the Word of God as it applies to our day and time.

Chapter 1

Who Is God?

The initial question we must both ask and answer is, "Who is God?" Is it the federal Government? The State? The Public Education System? The Banking System? Is it Caesar, or is it Christ?

Sounds like a simple question doesnít it. We shall see just how complex it has become.

"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power [authority] is given unto me in heaven and in earth."

Matthew 28.18

The principle enforced in all of the Scriptures is that the LORD JESUS CHRIST is KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS. He alone is the Sovereign Ruler, especially over the household of faith, the Church. It is Christ, alone, who has dominion. Furthermore, it is God alone who is the Lawgiver of His people and to all nations.

For the LORD is our Judge the LORD is our Lawgiver, the Lord is our King; He will save us."                                                                        Isaiah 33.22

If this is true, and the Word of God is the Holy and flawless, perfect Word of Truth, then why do so many regard the Scriptures as only partially binding? Or why do so many regard it as binding only when it is convenient? The fundamental question today is WHO IS GOD and WHAT DOES HE REQUIRE OF HIS PEOPLE?

The Reformation Example

The Reformation of the 16th Century re-established the principles of Truth, by declaring, once again, the Regulative Principle of Holy Scripture. That is to say, that the Scriptures alone were to regulate the private and public Life of the Christian. The re-established Sola Scriptura, Sola Fiede, Sola Gracia, Sola Christus and Soli Deo Gloria. [The Scriptures Alone, Faith Alone, Grace Alone, Christ Alone and For Godís Glory Alone] were to be the only rule by which a Christian could function in day to day life.

Christianity is not a faith merely concerned with a life hereafter, but a living doctrine of lifeís practices in the here and now. "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." These are still the precepts of Biblical Truth.

In defense of the Scriptures encompassing every aspect of life, including the here and now, John Calvin declared,

"...the fear of God hold promise not only for the life to come, but also for this present life. Let us therefore, walk in obedience to God, and then we can be assured that He will be a Father to us, yea, even in the maintenance of our bodies..."

"He cares for our salvation, and not only for the eternal salvation of our persons, but also for the maintenance of our state in this earthly life..."

Calvin's view of social theory was straightforward; God brings His sanctions of blessings or cursings on a nation in the midst of history, depending on obedience or disobedience to His revealed Law.

Each man reaps what he sows. But this held true also for nations. Since entire nations cannot be judged in eternity, God judges them in History. God does not limit His judgment to the afterlife.

So where have we gone wrong?

Chapter 2

The Regulative Principle of Godís Word

What does it mean to be regulated by Godís Word?

Today, many bring ourselves under the impression that we are in harmony with the precepts of God. However, for the most part there is error in a great many things.

The Reformation of the 16th century unveiled a distinction of Christian Practices. There are two schools of thought as to how one should live the Christian life. The first is a concept, which proceeded from the Roman and Anglican churches. The Roman Anglican view saw true Christian life, and worship, as anything that is commanded by Godís Word and anything not expressly forbidden by Godís Word. If there were no scriptures expressly forbidding a particular way of life, then the Roman-Anglican concept would allow that practice.

This is why the Roman churches have an entirely different way of Worshiping than Protestant churches. They saw no particular Law forbidding some of their ways, so they took the liberty of implementing the traditions of men that were not specifically forbidden in the Scriptures as acceptable.

The Puritan-Reformed view, on the other hand, took an entirely different approach. They held that True Worship and lifeís practices must be regulated only by what Scripture commands, either by word, example, or implication. This left no room for improvisation.

With the issue of Home-schooling, the same principle and practice must hold true. Todayís Christian parents think that because public schooling is not, by name, condemned specifically in the Scriptures, it is perfectly acceptable to send Covenant Children to these state-run facilities. Yet after careful study, one is hard pressed to find a myriad of Scriptural sightings, precepts, examples, commandments, and implications that condemn, in no uncertain terms, the very premise and concept of godless state education. In fact, the Scriptures leave little room for the allowance of education of Covenant Children to anyone other than the parent.

Chapter 3

Education: A Comprehensive Reality

The fundamental problem is that the parents of Covenant Children think that when the scriptures speak of education, God is specifying only Religious Gospel Education. Again, nothing can be farther from the truth. When God speaks of Education, He is referring to all aspects of education.

All Education is Religious

The reason behind 2+2 equaling 4 is religious. The pagan educator will say that 4 is a result of 2+2 because it conforms to the law of mathematics. In other words, secular education concludes that 2 + 2 = 4 because that is just the way it is. It is a "neutral" fact.

This is fundamentally a pagan view-point. It presupposes that there is no God, and all laws are natural in scope. This faulty and sinful line of thinking reduces Godís mathematical order of the universe into a sequence of numbers without substance and meaning. Thus, secular education is by no means neutral. It is based upon a religious presupposition of secular humanism, which at its very foundation is Godless.

The Christian Educator, on the other hand, will focus upon the Law of God, and His Divine organization as an order of the universe. The Christian Educator, (i.e. the Christian parent), knows what the pagan educator does not; which is, God is the creator of all Laws, even the Law of addition and subtraction. The reason why 2 + 2 = 4 is because God is a God of order, and has created and ordained numbers to reveal His Glory.

[For an excellent explanation of this refer to "Mathematics: Is God Silent?" by James Nickel. Ross House Books]

As Christian educators, all of the Works of the Lord are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them. We must also understand that that heavens declare the Glory of God. Once an educator refers to the heavens, he must deal with physics. He must discuss time and space. He must observe bodies, celestial and terrestrial. Therefore, the student must see that God has ordered all things according to His will and perfection and unto the praise of His Glory. This must be the reasoning central to all subjects. If any science or other form of education is taught without GOD as the hub and central focus, the truth of that science becomes paganized and immoral.

History : An Example

Another example is History. The secularized school places man at the heart of all history. Again, this is anti Christ. If not for Gallelio, the state education system would probably still insist that the sun revolves around manís earth. Any study, especially those of the historical sciences, which places man first, i.e. anti, is pagan and wrong.

The pagan school sets up man as God and history as a random sequence of events with no rhyme or reason. The truth is, however, that God alone has dominion and turns the heart of man whithersoever He willeth. There is not one single solitary place in this whole universe that God, the Sovereign Lord of all, does not say, "This belongs to Me." There is not one single solitary incident in which God has not ordained to come to pass. He is in complete providential control of all that happens. He raises up kings and sets down kings. It is He that orders all things according to the Good pleasure of His will. Thus the orchestration of all historical events is precisely planned to reveal some aspect of Godís Glory and to bring the Gospel into all the world.

History then becomes a well thought-out strategy of the Divine Godhead, and not a system of irrelevant happenings without reason or purpose. How can we expect our children to grasp such a glorious and wonderfully comforting Truth if they spend 40 ungodly hours per weeks being taught as if there is no God, and that He has not precisely orchestrated the events of the World?

When we consider that Religion is the basis of man and his interpretation of the world, we then can see the dilemma. Whatever religion the educator embraces will absolutely be expressed in the manner in which that educator teaches. There is no neutral ground when it comes to educating. Whether we like it of not, if our children are being educated by an educator, or education system, that denies God, those little ones will suffer the consequences of the indoctrination of anti Christ.

Consider this statement from Clarence B. Carsonís A Basic History of the United States vol.3 pp. 90,91.

"The public school movement was always more than simply an effort to have schools provided at taxpayer expense. Nor was it simply an effort to have an educated electorate as the franchise was extended to more people, is sometimes alleged. The most zealous of the reformers (i.e. non Christian socialist reformers) was determined to use the power of the state by way of schools to break the hold of religious tradition and the inherited culture and to change society through the childís training."

Here is an admission of the real purpose of public education. To re-educate and indoctrinate the children away from GOD! [See ITR's Article on Education January 2003.]

Robert Owen, the real father of modern socialism was clear in his anti-Christian beliefs. He stressed that the national public education system was the essential step on the road to socialism, and that this would require a sustained effort of propaganda, and political activism, over a long period of time.

This statement reflects the long-term goal of those that would steal away the Godly heritage, which God Himself has given us in our Children. This is also an attempt to destroy the very foundation of Christianity at its root.

In light of this basic assault upon God's people, and the continuity of the faith, the Church has remained ominously silent. The progress of anti-Christ has been aided by the silence of the Church and the willingness of so-called Christian parents to send their children to state schools.

The Church must also be indicted for allowing their parents to send their children into the den of liars to be trained in a most Godless fashion. Instead of advocating obedience to Godís clear commandments of parental responsibility to educate their off spring the church has relinquished their oversight to the forces of evil.

The only defense against such an insidious attempt is to rigidly obey the fundamental precepts of God, Our Protector and King, as it concerns the education of our children.

Chapter 4

Four Life Systems

There are 4 basic categories, or life systems, in which the world falls into.

Paganism, Islam, Romanism, and Calvinism (Or Reformed Theology)

Each of these systems falls under a specified authority structure. Let us observe these four general life systems and them consolidate them into two very separate and purposed authority structures.

1. Paganism: This is the belief that one can worship God in the creature. In other words, in order to worship God, you need only to worship the work of His hands. This would yoke the worship of man, and his inventions, in the category of paganism. If the education system, therefore, is the glorification of manís wisdom, then by definition, it is paganism.

We see this to be the case in our schools today when we realize that not only is God eradicated from all teaching, and the reading of the Scriptures on school grounds made a federal offence, but that manís knowledge (the knowledge of facts) has become the New Messiah.

Even in some home-school circles, it is knowledge that is glorified on an equal level (if not above) the knowledge of the Holy. This is again, anti-Christian behavior.

2.The Second life system is Islam

This is the belief that God is "out there" but very isolated from the human race. Islam also has its roots in classical humanism. Sadly, many of our modern day Christian homes function along the lines of humanistic Islam. The only difference is that it is labeled Christianity. A more precise definition of Christianized Islam is Deism.

When individuals act as if there is no direct correlation between behavior and Divine Judgment, they may be classified as Islamic deists. Whatever the title, it is heresy, and leads to cultural collapse.

When the people of the Christian Faith begin to exhibit similar behavior and teach similar doctrines, that heresy becomes damnably destructive.

3. The third life system is Romanism.

This is the belief structure which has a man-made hierarchy. In the system of Romanism, mankind must go through the Church in order to have an audience with God. Thus we have the mass, the priests, bishops, cardinals, and popes as mediators before God.

In this belief system, God enters into fellowship with the creature by way of mystical union. Very little is tangible, and almost nothing is practical. God and His precepts are given in a vacuum.

Many Christians follow this mentality when it comes to education principles. They feel as if true education must be regulated by some form of organized, man-made, hierarchy. Only then, they think, can it be profitable in the "real world". This thinking is a snare to the Christian.

To lean upon our own feeble understanding is not good. Only God can dictate what is profitable by His Word. The Christian parents, all too often, seem unsatisfied unless they report to that visible hierarchy - the state education system.

But we must remember that the state has no interest in our Covenant Children other than to destroy and make them slaves to ungodly and unscriptural ideologies. But these children are Godís, and have been given to the parents as a precious treasure to be nurtured and cherished. In matters of education, the Christian parent must report only to God! They are accountable to Him alone!

4. Finally, Calvinism, as it is commonly referred to, is the fourth life system.

Let it be asserted here that what is referred to as Calvinism is simply the Biblical Regulatory System of the Reformers and Puritans. Calvinism is the traditional title that uses the Bible alone as the rule of life and faith.

Calvinism, in a word, is obedience, in every point, to the Holy Scriptures. In this life system (today we generalize it as Protestantism), God enters into immediate fellowship by the Holy Spirit with the creature, by Specific and Special Mediation of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Saints themselves are the Church. The Church is the Living Body of Christ as an organism rather than an organization. As this sanctified Body, they function in the world as a productive member of the Kingdom of God. Every aspect of life is viewed and regulated through Godís Word.

For the true Biblical saint, all aspects of life must come under the scrutiny of the Bible. Through the Revelation of Truth, by the Scriptures, the Christian obeys from the heart, and uses the Bible as a lamp and a light unto obedience and devotion.

Calvinism, impresses performance in and outside of the external visible Church. True Biblically minded Saints express an entire Christian worldview. The Grace of God, to perform to the Glory of God, energizes every area and department of life. There is a total commitment to the cause of Christ. The Christian serves God in the world and not apart from it.

However, he is careful not to be unequally yoked with the world or to take part in any confederacy with ungodly persons or institutions. The commandments of God, which forbid making covenants or leagues with the nations of the world, are therefore taken seriously.

"Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare for you in the midst of thee: but ye shall destroy their alters, break their images, and cut down their groves: For thou shalt worship no other god: For the LORD whose name is Jealous, is a Jealous God: Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of thje land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice; And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods."

Exodus 34.12-16

God likens making a forbidden covenant to idol worship and whoring. But the thrust here is found in the section which speaks of sons and daughters. It is they, who will suffer the brunt and consequences of parental infidelity in making a league with unbelievers. If this doesnít send chills down your spine, then I donít know what will.

Chapter 5

Two Authority Structures: By What Standard

There are only Two Authoritative Structures at work in all Society. Theism and Humanism. [Theocratic Society as opposed to Humanistic society]

Theism is the Authority Structure which uses The Holy Scriptures as its standard. Theism teaches that Godís Word is the infallible rule of both life and faith. Therefore, Theism places the final word of Authority upon the Bible alone.

Humanism, on the other hand, has its roots in manís wisdom and places the final authority upon human understanding. In this system of life, man sits upon the throne of judgment, in place of God, and acts as the only sovereign in all matters of life and faith.

When contemplating the nature of community, we must realize that every community is centered around a power focus. Either the community is centered around God and His Truth, or man, and his idea of right and wrong. It must be understood, however, that there can be no blending of the two. Light cannot have fellowship with darkness, and man cannot serve two masters. Either he will love the one and hate the other, or cleave to the one and deny the other.

Whenever a community fluctuates between Godís Wisdom and manís ideas, for its source of truth, we may call it "sophisticated, or moral Humanism". Nevertheless it is Humanism all the same. It has a show of Godliness but denies the power thereof. When man mingles Humanistic philosophies with the establishment and maintenance of the community, he functions outside the Standard of God. The Word of God likens this to idolatry, vanity and vexation of spirit.

Since all manner of Humanism denies God and His Authority, at the core, it is in direct opposition to His Person and His Law. Fundamental to every community is also the idea of order and peace. When there is order, the net result is peace. The same is true inversely. When there is disorder and confusion, there is contention and social strife.

The question naturally arises, ĎWhat is the structure of our community? Or more specifically, Ďwhat is the structure of the state run education system of the public schools?í ĎIs it based upon the Order of Godís Holy Standard, or upon Humanistic zeal.í

The answer to this question will be the answer in solving community disorder and decay. In point of fact, the education that is taught to our children will be the determining factor of our community, and the future of the nation. If we are to strike at the heart of the dilemma of our world, we must carefully address this question. ĎBy what standard do we live?í

At the root of every lawless act is sin. Because the order and peace of each community is threatened and assaulted by lawlessness, we must deal with it at the source. It is sin, plainly and simply. Sin is the root of all social upheaval. Yet, sin is principally a spiritual problem. The result and consequences of sin is lawlessness and criminal action. Therefore, if a community desires to deal with the outward manifestation of social lawlessness, it must address the spiritual reality of sin. Humanism cannot do this effectively. It hasnít the Wisdom or the tools to speak to this problem.

The present education structure cannot hope to educate effectively to address these problems either. Thus, the academic community that is based upon manís wisdom, which is in opposition against God in the first place, will only add to social unrest, rather than putting that lawlessness to death.

Humanism itself becomes the problem by establishing a community in hope of order and peace, in a sinful fashion, and by sinful means. Because the institution of community was originally established by God, all non-Christian attempts to properly establish and govern community affairs ultimately collapse as a result of its inability to cope with sin. Godless education only reinforces wickedness and offers no hope for society. Man-made education, legislation and enforcement cannot profit as a viable remedy when it is based upon opposition against Godís Law.

Every community which cannot properly address and deal with sin, from a Theocratic position, is destructive to itself and corrupts the very nature of community. Only the Theism of the Regulatory System can be acceptable for the Covenant Home. Thus any system-structure, be it educational, communal, or governmental which refuses to address life from the Holy Scriptures, must be rejected and refused by the faithful Christian.

Chapter 6

Principles and Directives

What then are some of the initial principle directives we should be sensitive to as Christian Parents?

Firstly, the whole of the Christian life, from the cradle to the grave, must revolve around Christ. This does not mean that we add Christ to worldly living. By sending the seed of Christ, i.e. the Children of the Covenant, to be educated by antichrist, and then hoping to add Christ to all their learning, is folly. The parent that does this "lacketh understanding" and will most certainly get himself a blot.

Secondly, The whole of the Christian life is a conflict with the world. Cf John 16.33

It is a known fact, that in our day, for the most part, it is the wicked who prosper in the world. It was so in Asaph's time when God was bringing sanctions upon a rebellious Israel. cf Psalm 73.

Yet, it is the Christian who should prosper in the world in order to prosper in the work of the Kingdom of Christ. This prosperity is not of material means only. It is of a wider scope. It encompasses riches, yet, it is not limited to riches. The Christian must prosper in every area of life. This includes wisdom, and knowledge, righteous fruit and influence in the community as well. If the Christian home is centered upon Christ, even when the world enters in as a flood, the Christian has the Scripture and the Spirit as the Standard of protection from the conflict.

Thirdly, because we are the Children of Light and in conflict with the world, then we must be doubly careful to prepare Our Children for the task at hand in this life - and that preparation is to be thoroughly grounded in the Word of God.

Fourthly, we must be progressively sensitive to Godís Word concerning disobedience. Progressive, and total, obedience must be our position and life-long quest. Total, in that the Christian obeys in every sphere of life. Total, yet never perfect.

Whenever the people of God became desensitized and slothful in devotion and diligence, God brought negative sanctions of chastisement upon them. In like manner, on the other hand, obedience brings blessings and liberty to the Children of the Covenant. What was true for the people of God yesterday, is true for them today. God never changes.

Part II

Chapter 7

GOD, the Only Lawgiver

Question: From whence cometh our authority?

We are a gullible people. We have been led to believe that man can make any rule he so desires as long as he is in a place of elected office. This is not so. True Law comes only from God. Man is required to obey those Laws set down by the Lawgiver. For those ordained into a position of authority, they must enforce Godís Law, but are not in any position to create new laws. [cf Romans 13.1]

Because man is accountable to God and responsible to uphold righteousness, according to the revelation of His Holy Word, all private and public peoples must adhere to these facts.

Those in public office are called ministers of God [cf Romans 13.4] for the Good, to cast down the evil, and protect that which is of God, according to His Word. Because the public official has been ordained of God, he is doubly accountable to do right. When, however, those officials do what is contrary to the Holy Word of the High and Lofty One, they are removed out of His sight, and according to the Scriptures, no longer have legitimate authority or Godís blessings.

This principle is stated by commandment and illustrated by many Biblical examples. In fact, this was the crux of the entire argument of both the Reformers and the Founding Fathers of the united States. God had commanded the saints in the precept, "We must obey God rather than men." cf Acts 5.29  Or as Thomas Jefferson stated, "Rebellion to Tyrants is obedience to God."  Thus, both what the Reformers and the Founding Fatherís did, was absolutely in accordance with the Holy Scriptures. Whenever man's laws contradict God's Laws, God's Law must be followed.

We can see by providence that this is true even if we cannot understand it in concept. Let us take the education issue for our argument and ask a number of essential questions.

  1. What is the Biblical definition of Education?
  2. What are some objections given in support of Public schools
  3. Is home education optional?
  4. By What authority do we do these things?
  5. What is the public education system all about?
  6. What actually takes place when we place our Covenant Children into the godless education system?
  7. What are some Scriptural warnings to parents who defy the clear Commandment of God?

Biblical Education

"The bringing up of as of a child; instruction; formation of manners. Education comprehends all that series of instruction and discipline which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct the temper, and form the manners and habits of youth, and fit them for usefulness in their future situations. To give children a good education in manners, arts and science is important; to give them a religious education is indispensable; an immense responsibility rests on parents and guardians who neglect these duties."

Noah Websterís Dictionary 1828

"Come unto Me all that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of meÖ"

Matthew 11.28-29a

"And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."

Ephesians 6.4

"And these Words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou riseth up."

Deuteronomy 6.6-7

"I am much afraid that the schools will prove to be the gates of hell unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures, engraving them in the hearts of the youth. I advise no one to place their child where the Scriptures do not reign paramount. Every institution in which men are not increasingly occupied with the Word of God must become corrupt."

Martin Luther, Anno Domino 1537

The express commands of God, unto all those who have been given the stewardship over the souls of children, are to teach them of the things of Christ, with consistency, diligence and fidelity. But there is another implication in the words of the commandments in Deuteronomy 6 and Ephesians 6.

The concern may be best expressed in a question. How are the Christian parents to observe the constant care and Godly instruction of their children if the child spends 8 hours per day away from the home?

What is even more disturbing a question is, How can Christian parents send their children to a educational institution which has omitted and made unlawful the Godly precepts of the great Creator and Lawgiver Himself?

These questions almost seem absurd. Yet, we face these very issues today in the majority of so-called Christian homes. No wonder why there is little distinction between the so-called Children of Light and the children of darkness.

By now the objections are many. Let us then address them from the vantage-point of Godís most Holy Word.

Obj : We do not really want to place our children in a public school setting, however, we both must work to provide for our home. Therefore public education is our only resort.

We have here at least two problems if not more.

Firstly, where in the scriptures does God permit the mothers to be out of the house, in the first place, providing for the family? The scriptures clearly identify the role of the women in Titus chapter 2.3-5

"The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."

Notice the word at. Keepers [lit. governors] at home. Not of the home but rather in the home. This is very important.

Furthermore, the scriptures teach that these Godly women are commissioned to be teachers of "good things". The good thing is the Gospel. Thus the admonition is for the mothers to teach the children in the Home of the things of God! This precept would seem to directly imply that all education outside the home is unlawful.

The second problem with this excuse, i.e. to send Godís heritage to the pagan educational slaughterhouse, is lack of money.

Does not God care for His own?

I have never seen the righteous forsaken, says David, or begging bread. Are we saying that if we obey God that we will go hungry? Or, are we really saying, that if we obey God we will be deprived of so many comforts the wicked of the world enjoy?

Is not the commission of the parent to lay up for the children, and to sacrifice for the sake of the Gospel and the Glory of Christ? I blame not the parents for the ignorance and wretched excuses they make, but rather I blame the Clergy who have bought into the lie of comfort, and the wickedness of covetousness.

What ever happened to "take up your cross and follow Me?"

Where is the practice of the precept, "Ye are not your own. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God with your body and in your spirit which are Godís" cf 1 Corinthians 6.19b-20.

Is not the Glory of the Children of God to obey and be afflicted?  Cf 1 Thess 3.3.

Is not the commission of the children of God to count the affliction of this world a light thing in comparison to the glory that shall be revealed? cf 2 Corinthians 4.17-18

Are we not to look to the things that are unseen with eyes of faith, and not upon the things that are seen. For the things that are seen are temporal, but the things that are not seen are eternal. Therefore this excuse is not only an excuse to disobey, but also an attempt at the destruction of the souls of the children.

Obj 2: I need to place my children in the public school in order that they be a witness of the Gospel.

Nowhere in Godís Holy Revelation does He command tender children to go into the world as missionaries. Christ actually dictates the opposite.

"But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in Me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."

Matthew 18:6

It is interesting to note the language of this passage. Christ identifies the penalty for offending Covenant Children as being drowned in the sea. If we compare this to Mark 5:13 we see that drowning in the depths of the sea was also the fate of Legion, after being caste into the swine.

Here we have a myriad of representational language. Legion is equated with uncleanness, whereas swine is equated to unregenerate mankind. The phrase, "depths of the sea", is a typification of hell and the judgment of God upon all those that offend. Therefore, we can learn that to send forth the Children of the Covenant into the halls of humanistic ,godless schools is to offend them. Furthermore, there is a great penalty associated with such disobedience - the wrath of God.

The task of the Christian parent is to shield and shelter the children while they are being groomed and matured, so as not to be snared in their youth by wicked men. The Psalmist clearly states, "Blessed is the man who walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful." If this is the admonition for the man of God, then how much more for the tender boy or girl who, as a lamb, is daily sent forth to the slaughter?

Obj 3: I cannot shelter my children from reality. They must see the world as it is so they will be able to cope.

Is not the Bible the Word of God? Is not the commission to teach the children at home? Reflect upon those that went before us that never entered a public school. How many of our Patriarchs were schooled at home. Was Joseph? Abraham, Isaac, Jacob? What of the Prophets? Did their parents school their children at home? And what of David and Solomon? The Apostles, the Reformers and the Founding Fathers were all schooled in a Biblical fashion. These were great men. Yet today, who have we in our modern age to point to as being great?

If public education is so great an institution, then it would follow that greater men than these would come from it. The evidence is astounding. All that is produced by the pubic, governmnet education system is an entourage of secular politicians, inventors of wicked things, supporters of socialistic dogma and programs, immoral entertainment producers and actors, and a myriad of souls in bondage to the computer generation, which have not the moral integrity needed to be of any godly value in this world.

The reality of the world's wickedness will come crashing in upon the little ones of the Christian Home soon enough. Soon they will be sent out into this world of corrupters who will seek to subtly come upon them unawares. But if they are equipped with Truth, instead of lies, which result in a dulling of the senses, unto all manner of sin, then they will be ready for anything the world, and all its lust, can throw at them. They will be leaders instead of followers. They will be Testimonies rather than tail-bearers. God will be Glorified.

The Apostle lays the axe to the truth of the matter.

" Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men."

1 Corinthians 14:20

Obj 4: What about socialization. They love sports and the entire social interaction. Surely I must not take that from them.

Where has the Church gone? Should not the social interaction that we desire come from the church, and the children of Godly parents? Will we sacrifice our children so as to have socialization with pagans? Of a truth, ungodly companions corrupt good conduct. Isnít it true that the behavior, we as parents, wrestle with in our children, is the bad they pick up from others? This statement is simply an excuse, and an indication of slothful indifference on the part of the parent.

Obj 5: But I am not skilled in education. I am not a qualified teacher. How then can I teach?

Here is another place where we have bought into the lie.

Who makes us qualified? Is it God? Or is it the state? If it is God, then by the sheer fact that you are the parent qualifies you to be the teacher. The only Teacher, under God. This is your birthright. Yet we have relinquished that right to Caesar.

When we begin to think that only state-qualified teachers can teach our children, we loose sight of the commission of God. We fail to ask the fundamental question: "What are these teachers qualified for? It is the knowledge of the Holy One? Or is it indoctrination into paganism godless immorality?"

Because the parent of today has been made to believe that education is salvation, secular knowledge is looked upon as God-breathed. It is not! The higher the grade-point-average, the more likely to succeed in this life, is the propaganda.

Yet, what is the true definition of success? Secular success is certainly not success in the things of moral values and Christian virtues. It is not Kingdom success, nor Christo-centric success. It is not a success in Christian doctrine and sound Godly Wisdom, but rather a failure, vanity and vexation of spirit.

Not too many years ago when the nation was still blessed of God, all education revolved around the LORD Jesus Christ. The fact is, if education did not revolve and focus upon the Gospel of Christ, it was refused to be called true education, and banned as heresy.

New Yorkís First public School Principle David Perkins 1810-1848

"The faithful teacher enjoys the approval of Heaven. He is employed in. if he has the right spirit, in a Heavenly Fatherís business that man should be made wiser and happier. To this end, the Son of God, the Great teacher, came to Bless our race; so far as the schoolmaster has the spirit of Jesus, he is engaged in the same great work. Very justly, we attribute our superiority as a people over those who dwell in the darker portions of the world, to our purer faith, derived from that precious fountain of truth, The Bible. In our public schools, supported at the publics expense, and in which the children of all denominations meet for instruction, I do not think that any man has the right to crowd his own particular notion of theology upon all, whether they are acceptable or not. YET THERE IS A COMMON GROUND WHICH HE CAN OCCUPY. HE can teach a reverence for a Supreme Being, a reverence for the Word of God, for the influence of His Spirit, for the character and teachings of our Saviour. For the momentous concerns of eternity, he can teach the duty of repentance, and the privileges of forgiveness, and the salvation by His Son."

Obj 6: Look at me. I made it through the public school system and God saved me.

The answer to this remark is two-fold. Firstly, do we dare tempt God? Do we act so presumptuously as to gamble with the eternal fate of our own flesh and blood, sons and daughters, because of our rebellion?

Secondly, of those that make such a comment:

If they had been taught, as little ones, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, under Christian principles, outside of the pagan schools, they wouldnít dare question Godís commandment in their adult years. They would know better. Better yet, they would educate at Home.

Chapter 9

By now you should have the answer to this question. The Scriptures are crystal clear in these matters. But let us investigate this question from another vantage-point. The Psalmist establishes for us a doctrinal truth in Psalm 127.3

"Lo, children are an heritage unto the LordÖ

What the Spirit of God is declaring to all parents, is the fact that all children born to them are not theirs to do as they please. These children, being a gift from God, are His. They are His possession.
He owns them.

" the fruit of the womb [is His] reward."

The intention of this portion of the Psalm is clear. The children of the Covenant belong to the LORD.

Although they are given to the parents for safe keeping and proper upbringing, they belong to God. The parents are then faced with a very serious issue. An issue of stewardship is posed to them directly from God, in behalf of the children. This is why the scriptures are replete with practical admonition and directives concerning children.

In these commandments and counsels, God is caring for His own interests. Therefore, to refuse the practice of His counsel, is to refuse the Lordship of Christ. This refusal to submit to the direct ordinances of God places the children of Christian parents directly in harms way. Once this happens, God begins to bring a Righteous Judgment against this misbehavior. Usually it is a grievous chastisement against both the parents and the children.

Often the damage is so extensive that the generation of disobedience is marred beyond repair. The only hope then exists in the future generations. We will carefully look at some of these consequences later. It is of utmost importance that Christian parents weigh seriously the effects of the godless State education system before committing Godís heritage to Caesar.

Chapter 10

"All power [lit. authority] is given unto Me in heaven and in earth."

Matthew 28.18b

"I saw in the night visions, and behold, one like the Son of Man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. And there was given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve Him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom [that] which shall not be destroyed."

Daniel 7.13-14

One of the Principle Doctrines of both the early Church and the Reformation of the 16th century was the Doctrine of the Dominion of Christ.

The Bible substantiates fully, the clear and declared fact that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the Glory of God, the Father. None shall successfully stand as an adversary before Him, and none shall frustrate His majesty. All authority is given unto Christ by God. All Power, Might and Dominion is Christís.

The difficulty with many churches today is they are still awaiting this Domination to take place. They believe that it is for a time yet to come - An event in eternity. In thinking this, they err greatly, not knowing the Scriptures or the power of God. Flawed eschatology always produces flawed behavior.

God, by virtue of Himself, is, and always has been, in complete rule and authority. He is LORD. He is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, both now, then, and forever more. This is key to understanding the Scriptures.

Therefore, when the tempters asked the question of the King of Kings, "By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave you this authority?" the answer was rhetorical. It was evident that Christ was functioning under a different set of rules than the Pharisees. His authority was not of men. Nor came His commission from men. He spoke with Authority, and not as one of the scribes.

Therefore we again must face the same question. Who gives us the authority to follow Godís Commandments?

The answer is shamefully obvious.

The Christianís authority comes from GOD ALONE.

Under this authority the saints are set at liberty, and empowered to follow Godís Law implicitly, without any infringement from man or manís ungodly laws. When Jesus declares that His kingdom is not of this world, He is making the dramatic statement that the authority of His Kingdom is not derived from man. It is of a Supernatural Nature. It has a Divine Authority from God, the Lord, Creator, and Judge.

Therefore, Christ's statement clearly declares that His kingdom is not from an earthly source of authority. This is important to understand. Today, many interpret this statement of John 18.36 as teaching abstinence from all involvement in the world.

This verse has been further perverted to teach that the Christian needs to entirely submit to any, and all, man- made laws, be they righteous or wicked. Nothing could be more heretical and damaging to the Kingdom of Christ.

There is one very important dynamic to these principles. Once the Divine Authority is disregarded by the Covenant Christian, by bowing to manís wisdom, and power for help, God gives Him over to the authority of the wicked ruler. These are the negative sanctions for disobedience that are promised in Deuteronomy 28.

Never is it Godís intention for the Saint to relinquish his birthright for a pot of the wickedís blood-red pottage. Yet, once this is done, the Saint must bear the consequences of severe chastisement upon himself, his wife and his children, perhaps even unto the fourth generation.

Chapter 11

All too often we hear the arguments against the secular, public education system from the standpoint that it has become either a dangerous place for children physically, or a place of poor academic and moral guidelines.

Some of the suggestions for public school reform include the replacement of religious liberties given to the students, such as prayer in school, or the listing of the Ten Commandments upon school grounds. Other suggestions focus upon certain safety legislation, by law enforcement officials, to insure civil behavior. Still others suggest that a mandatory uniform dress code will assist in minimizing the immoral and rebellious dress of the youth. These arguments seem very just and credible. However, plausible these arguments may seem, they do not address the real issue of why Home Education is Biblically Correct. Permit me to give a Gospel example as illustration.

Man, by the result of the fall, is spiritually dead in sins and trespasses. All of mankind is in bondage to the Old Man, Adam. According the Scriptures, we cannot fix Old Adam. Good works will not help him. Good intentions will not heal him. Religious and moral behavior, coupled with benevolent piety, will not move heaven in his behalf. He is a corpse. God will have none of his works, for all of his righteousness is as filthy rags. None, by their own hand of reform, can bring a clean thing out of an unclean thing. The whole head of fallen man, Old Adam, is wounded beyond repair and recognition. The whole head is sick, the whole heart faint with wounds and putrefying sores. Old Adam is as dead as Lazarus was - dead four days and stinketh

It is only the power of the New Birth which Transforms Old Adam into a New Man. The reign of Old Adam must be entirely discarded and a new reign must be Divinely established. That reign is the reign of the Sovereign Lord Jesus. Man needs to become a New Creature in Christ. The fixing up of Adam can never merit the Grace of Forgiveness with God. Similarly, the public school system is like the Old Adam. It cannot be fixed. Why? The answer is simply this. The entire concept of an education system outside the home, and controlled by the humanistic state, is unbiblical, immoral and expressly forbidden by the Holy Scriptures.

Consider the Role of the Civil Authorities

According to Romans 13, God gives both direct commandment and guidelines for the civil magistrates.

"For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same. For he [the civil magistrate] is the minister of God to thee for goodÖ" v3-4a

God clearly shows that the civil rulers are ministers of God. These ministers are both ordained of God and are called to perform a specific purpose in their office. That is, to be servants of the people of the land, for Good and not for evil. The word "good" is a direct reference to God, His character, and Law. Therefore, the role and purpose of the civil authorities is to function according to the Word of God, for the benefit of the people, unto the righteous praise of Godís Glory.

Furthermore, these rulers, who properly exercise their rule according to Godís Law, are to be revered and subjected to as unto the Lord. cf Romans 13.1 However, once these rulers pervert their office by rebelling against the Holy purpose and command of God, they are to be rejected and their unrighteous authority disregarded, especially when these ungodly rulers impose upon the righteous people immoral sanctions and laws contrary to Godís Law.

There is, however, another lesson we can learn from these verses in Romans 13.

Firstly we see that God carefully uses the word minister to identify the state ruler. The word here is the Greek word, diakonos, which is interpreted deacon, laborer or servant. Literally, the word means, "the one who runs errands". In other words, the civil magistrate is to be a servant of men for that which is good and right, according to the absolute Law of God. The civil ruler must rule in the fear of God. If he is to be a minister of men for good, then there can be no other alternative but to enforce Godís rules upon the people, both in doctrine and practice.

And it shall be when he [the civil authority] sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this Law in a book out of which is before the priests the Levites: And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this Law and these statutes, to do them."

 Deuteronomy 17:18-1

The civil magistrate is to look after the people by leading and protecting, according to the Word of Godís Law. He is commanded to learn the Law of God as to be well versed in its precepts and application.

The ruler that desires to be blessed in his work must take to heart the severity of his office and be careful to reverence God as Lord - the Sovereign and Supreme Ruler over all earthly rulers. Therefore, the oversight of the civil magistrate must be in accordance with the Law of God for the benefit of Godís people if it is to be a valid authority.

We may list the principle function of the Governing Magistrates in the following manner.

  1. They are ordained of God to do good by teaching, practicing and upholding Godís Law.
  2. They are ministers [deacons] to the righteous.
  3. They are a terror to those who do evil by punishing criminals.
  4. They are to be limited to what Godís word allows and shun that which is forbidden.

We may sum up the role of the valid civil ruler as one which is absolutely limited to Godís precepts.

The question then must be raised, "Where does God give the state the liberty to remove the Covenant Children from the care of the Christian Parent in order to educate them in the public arena?"

Simply stated, God never gives this role to the state, (nor is it given to the church, for that matter either). The Holy Scriptures do not give the civil rulers authority to teach the children of the land in any way shape or form.

We must then conclude, that because the Bible does not allow for such an institution of education by the state, (by virtue of its direct confrontation primarily with Deuteronomy 6), the public education system exists as a result of a violation of God's Law.

The reason for the recent disintegration of the public school system is that it has been built upon a wicked and rebellious foundation. There is no other viable conclusion in light of Godís clear warnings in His Law. Whenever a people rebel against God and retain Him not in their knowledge, or seek after His Wisdom as fine gold, they are given up and brought to their knees by their own wicked inventions. The problem with the public education system is that it exists at all.

Chapter 12

We have already explained some of the pragmatic realities and problems facing the placement of Godís children into godless educational institutions. Now let us address some additional Spiritual difficulties pertaining to the Covenant.

The first thing that happens when Christians resort to the godless education of their children by the state is that they loose the protection of Godís Covenant. God promises to be a God unto us and our children. Yet, we can only claim such a promise when we walk in accordance to His Holy precepts.

Let it be known here that when Godís Covenant people disobey His precepts and sin against His Covenantal Order, He brings chastising sanctions upon them. By placing His Children into a godless system of education the Christian parent has, in effect, made an unlawful league with the heathen. This is direct and blatant sin against Godís Covenant.

"Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land wither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee."

Exodus 34.12

It is by entering into this forbidden alliance that the Christian no longer has a claim to the protection of God. Both the Covenant oath of parental responsibility as well as the security of Covenantal succession are violated.

These illegal covenants with the heathen bring about a snare for the children of God, which is said to enter into the midst of them. The implication of this language infers that once the sin is established in the midst of the people, they begin to tolerate it, and eventually embrace it as good and necessary.

Such is the problem with the public school system. Tell any Christian that it is entirely unbiblical and unnecessary to have a state run education system and they begin fierce debate. This is proof enough that the Christian of today has been snared and socialized into an ungodly alliance.

The Scriptures also speak of the problem as a snare, which is another word for entrapment. The implication is that it is a secrete snare and comes into the camp by stealth, thereby secretly destroying. A clear directive follows the warning.

"But ye shall destroy their alters, break their images, and cut down their groves."

Exodus 34.13

It is the saint who ought to destroy and not the other way about.

An interesting point here is that God uses the word, altar. I submit to you that the altar of the American public is the Education System. It is knowledge, which is both worshiped and longed for. Yet it is not the knowledge of the Holy, but rather the knowledge of man, and the ways of manís inventions.

The Secular, God-destroying, system of Education has not only removed and sought to destroy the memory of God, but has all but destroyed the stability of the Christian family, and the heritage of the Lord. It is they who have destroyed our altars, and cut down our groves. Sadly, the Church submitted willingly and joyfully. We are now reaping the fruit of our disobedience.

Chapter 13

The Snare of Homeschooling on the Basis of Religious Exemption

"And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? Shall we give or shall we not give? But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a penny, that I may see it. And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They said unto him, Caesarís. And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesarís, and to God the things that are Godís. And they marveled at him."

Mark 12.14-17

We now must consider here the horrible reality of Homeschool Exemption by the state.

Once the Christian parent asks permission from the state education system to teach their Children at home, they effectively lose all rights to the protection of Godís Covenant promises. Without realizing what this request for permission actually does, the parent relinquishes all parental rights to determine what the Child must learn. There becomes an ungodly alliance, and accountability to the state, regardless of what the state officials may say.

When the Pharisees tempted the Lord Jesus in Mark 12, they had already made an ungodly league with Caesar rendering all their authority to him. Such leagues made with the wicked are expressly forbidden in the Holy Scriptures.

It is true that some State laws concerning Home Education are more lenient than others. Yet, once a unlawful league is made with the state, through the registration of the Children, no matter how lenient, the stateís godless oversight and authority upon the Covenant Children is fully enforced.

Biblically speaking, the parents who asks for state license, when they have already been given Divine Commandment and liberty, render the things (i.e. the Children) that are Godís to Caesar. Again, I refer to Psalm 127 verse 3, where we are taught that the Children of Godís Covenant are His inheritance.

"Lo [the] children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is His reward."

This passage clearly teaches that the Children belong to Him, and are to remain under His immediate care through the stewardship of Christian parents. His Father-Teacher relationship needs to remain intact through the discipline of a Christ Centered Home Education. There can be no room for doctrines of devils to replace the doctrine of Christ.

If the Children are under the Covenant umbrella, then we are commanded, in Mark 12:17, that we must render those things which are Godís unto God, and not unto Caesar. Once the Children of the Christian home are placed into a humanistic school system, they become bondservants to that system.

Another Scripture which clearly warns against casting what is Godís to those of the heathen is Matthew 7:6.

"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither caste your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."

Here, God clearly warns us not to give that which is holy unto the dogs. But what is it that is holy? According to 1 Corinthians 7:14, God identifies His Covenant Children as holy. Therefore, we must logically conclude that the thing which is holy are the Children of the Christian Home. In light of that fact, there is clear warning not to give those Children unto those who are dogs, or in this case the ungodly state.

The consequences for this disobedience is two fold.

Firstly, the Holy children will be trampled under foot, and secondly, the parents will suffer destruction as well. Thus we have our answer to the common parental question of placing the children in public schools for a witness of the Gospel. God will not give such a liberty, for He is very jealous over that which is His.

Furthermore, young children are not to be used for evangelical purposes until they are properly trained in Doctrine and Life. To send a tender, impressionable child into a den of vipers is in direct violation of the parental protection mandate of the Covenant family.

But what are the everyday effects of registering Covenant Children to the supervision of the state? We must understand that upon giving over parental authority to the secular schools they become the lawmakers and legal caretakers of our youth.  A relinquishing of authority legally places the other party in control. The state now dictates what is to be taught to the children.

Once a parent relinquishes parental authority to the state, through school registration, the children become state children. This is true even for those parents that home teach. If there is any accountability to the state, authority is rendered unto Caesar. To put it another way, once the parent asks for permission by the wicked to do what is commanded by God, they loose all rights to their Godly heritage.

For any parent who has home taught under the supervision of the state, they know that the state requires testing of the children to see what the children have learned, and whether or not the parents have taught properly. On the surface this seems harmless. In fact, many may even argue that it is for the good for the children, and parent, to be accountable.

The problem here is just that. Who are we to be accountable to? And under what system of rules and guidelines are we to submit?

The state has already usurped both the God-given parental authority, and the Holy Scriptures, by mandating what is, and what is not, to be learned. Furthermore, the state is telling the parent when that information is to be learned and at what age that child will be responsible to learn it.

This smacks in the face of Biblical Individuality. In fact, this idea is fundamentally based in evolutionary thinking. It is a proven fact that we are not all alike. Each of us develops differently, and at various paces. Some are more apt to academics, while others more skilled in artistic or hands-on learning.

There are distinct differences among children. What the state education system does is stifle the childís creative and natural development, in which God Himself has determined to be nurtured by making them conform to secular knowledge and a secular, evolutionary timetable. What is astonishing about this is that the majority of Home Educating parents seem to have been ensnared by this lie, and have been brainwashed into thinking that the state education institution knows better than God.

At the risk of sounding repetitious, let me again warn those parents who now Home Teach, against making your home a haven for public school ideology, and practice. Home Education is not public school at Home. Lest we be deceived, true Biblical Education is not a series of facts and figures poured into the minds of our children as if to fill a pail. It is rather the kindling of the God-given mind of each child to learn and excel through reason and directives.

Biblical Education is the development of individuals capable of reasoning, and logically solving various problems with the clear and precise understanding that God is at the center of all Wisdom and Knowledge. To educate at home, as the public school educates, is not Biblical Education.

"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which we have not received, or another gospel which we have not accepted, ye might well bear with [it or him]."

2 Corinthians 10.3-4

How many homes involved in Home education are structured according to manís wisdom and not according to Christ?

How many homes have been deceived into thinking they are serving Christ, and training their children in righteousness, when the state holds the reins of all teaching?

How many well meaning parents are in bondage to the fear that their children will not prosper in the world because of improper instruction, and therefore look to the state to give them assurance and hope that their children will do well? This is nothing less than idolatry and infidelity. Thus, having identified it, we must repent of it, and make restitution for it.

Chapter 14

The first order of business in the battle for Our Children is to identify the enemy, and the strategies of anti Christ. Once this is accomplished, there needs to be a systematic, well-coordinated plan unto Reformation and Liberation. This is accomplished through a strict implementation of God's Holy Precepts through a variety of actions.

One of the initial steps requires the proper educating of Christian Parents, in both principles and specifics. Then there needs to be a process whereby those who are of like mind can interface with one another, as both a support group, and an action group. There also needs to be strong cooperation of families to stand fast in the liberty of Christ and not bow to the pressures of the secular system. But first we must re establish Biblical Vision.

In point of fact, the Christian community has been out of joint for quite a long time. It has been progressively humanized and weakened by secular philosophies which have infiltrated the churches as well as the families. Evil has become tolerable and good is now looked at with indifference when inconvenient. Yet we of faith must stand fast or be destroyed.

"Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the Law, happy is he."

Proverbs 29:18

What then is the vision of the Bible?

As concerning our families and our Children the Apostle Paul speaks clearly to the point.

"Öfor the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children."

2 Corinthians 12:14b

It is the duty of every Christian parent to lay up a godly heritage for the Children of the Covenant. Those things, in which the parent ought to lay up, are the things of Righteousness and Wisdom, as opposed to simply physical riches or worldly wealth. If Wisdom and Righteousness are well grounded in the children, God's blessings will come. Then, through careful obedience, and the application of sound economic precepts, wealth will come also. This in turn will be used wisely for the Kingdom's glory, and the furtherance of God's Dominion mandate.

Secular knowledge is not the focus of Paul's admonition. These are merely the foolish philosophies of men. His focus is upon Christ, His Wisdom, a Christ-centered World view, and the Kingdom of Righteousness. The Vision of every parent must be for the Children to be both salt and light in Biblical integrity, Wisely and Biblically relating to all aspects of life.

But how far, and to what extent does one take this principle?

An Eternal Vision for the Generations to Come

The people of modern day society live in a "me" world. Everything begins and ends with "me". "I", "Me", "Mine" is the language of the heart of man. Money is made by the individual to be spent upon the individual. Money that is saved is saved to be spent at some future time for the pleasure of the individual, or in some instances on the comforts and pleasures of the immediate family.

Like Rome before its collapse, entertainment, and comforts are at an all-time peak. The souls of men seek their peace in the building of bigger and bigger barns. Envy has replaced proper stewardship and frugality, and society is bent upon buying more and more.

Even among the pseudo-Christian community, those with monetary means prepare for the physical prosperity of their little ones yet, there is seldom any consideration for the support of the Eternal Kingdom. In reality many of these preparations are still "me centered", since it provides ease of mind that their children will not have to scrimp and save their whole lives.

This is not always evil, yet, there may be some spiritual problems if the balance is unbiblical. The question remains however, where is the focus upon the future generations?

It is not so much a question of what doctrine we profess but rather what does our action, and lifeís purpose, dictate? Many Christians behave as if there will be no future generations. They may prepare and lay up for their immediate children, but what of the generations to follow? What of laying a sure foundation that the present generation may never see the fruit thereof? Have we become so self-centered that we desire to sow good only if we can reap good ourselves? Why not sow good so that others in the distant future may reap great benefits? Why not suffer now so that future generations do not have to suffer? We have become a nation of godless Christians when we can only see past our children to our grandchildren and no further, if we can see that far at all.

The Heresy Of Pietism

One might question the reasons why humanistic sociology arose to the strength that it has. Generally speaking, we again must indict the churchís lack of understanding, as well as his lack of obedience to the Law of God.

When the churches abandoned the True Faith which had been initially given to the saints by the prophets and the Apostles, Humanism began to gain momentum. When the law of God and the Theonomic approach to social order was abandoned humanism grew. The adoption of a defeatist mentality has been the principle cause for the church's decline and impotence.

Throughout history, the battle of the saints against the forces of humanism is clearly seen. When the churches left off the counsel of God, by denying their office and duty, apostasy resulted. This is principal in any age. However, when the Law of God was reclaimed and revered, obeyed and spread abroad, there was reformation and revival.

The heresy of Pietism, has perhaps single handedly brought the church into the bondage and shame of spiritual impotence that it is in today. Pietism has its theological roots in Arminianism and Pelagism, while itself being a subtle form of Humanism.

Theoretically, Pietism stresses the ability of man by undercutting the Sovereignty of God. Pietism sees all things in terms of man rather than in terms of God. In practice, Pietism sees all events of Providence in terms of relationships to the individual and to the self. The problem with this is that Biblical Theology must have all things related to God, and not merely to the individual. So when a Pietist looks at Christianity, he fails to see his responsibility to the world around him and deals only in the points of Scripture that specifically speak to individual and Ecclesiastic holiness.

Arising from this self-centered heresy, there is the blatant denial that the saints of God, by their regeneration and restoration, are Priests and Kings, and are said to have dominion in this present evil world. The result of Pietism is the removal of personal responsibility from the affairs of this world coupled with a narrow-minded, fearful, focus upon the holiness of self and the purity of the church.

Pietism is simply a pessimistic and defeatist attitude substantiated by misusing Scripture. Pietism allows civil wickedness to go unchecked and gives it both license and strength by remaining silent in the affairs of the real world.

Once the church turns inwardly, in introspection, it looses it effectiveness as light and salt in the world, thus placing itself as a slave rather than being a collection of Kings and Priests of God. This practice is what brings men into bondage by a willful rendering all things to Caesar because of a misunderstanding and misuse of the Scriptures.

The Scriptural teaching that the saints ought to obey God rather than man is reduced to a concept which teaches this to be true only when convenient. Both Biblical and Reformation Theology argues against such Pietism, and commands the saints to go into all the world conquering victoriously in the Name, and by the Name, of Christ Jesus. We are told that the saints will tread upon serpents and scorpions. Yet, Pietism sins by silence, thereby harboring serpents and scorpions by a willful and flagrant posture of non-involvement in the world around them.

Chapter 15

The Commission of God unto the parents of Covenant Children is extremely serious and ought to be regarded as such. Yet where do we begin?

Firstly: Study the severity of the situation and contemplate your desire for your little ones. Either Baal is your god, or the Lord is your God. Then act accordingly, being regulated by every Word which proceedeth out of the Mouth of the Sovereign.

Secondly: Rest in the Word of God. Know that it is your ONLY authority and far surpasses any man made law upon the face of this earth.

Thirdly: Fear no man. Fear not the state. Fear nothing, for God will bless the righteous, and set the prisoners free. His Law is our weapon of warfare and no humanistic philosophy of practice will prevail against it.

Fourthly: Network with like minded folk and keep your distance from mockers. All things must be done unto edification. Be involved and involve others of like desires to see Godís Honor Proclaimed.

Fifthly: If you are presently enrolled in the anti Christian institution of the state get out. You may write or e-mail the Institute for Theonomic Reformation they will advise you of the necessary steps you must take. Whether you have enrolled your children in ignorance or fear, or even blatant disregard for the Warning of Holy Scripture it does not matter now. Repent and make restitution. Begin now.

Sixthly: There will be hardships. There will be trials and difficulties. These things will come, for we are appointed to these. Yet, let the trials come as a result of our labor to obey the perfect Law of Liberty, and not because we have run with the gentiles to seek and inquire after their idols.

Seventh: Be not faithless but believing. The infidelity of the saints is the first blow unto complete destruction. Look not at the situation with pessimism, but rather with encouragement. Beware of all the bad news others may threaten you with. They are not your friends. They actually are enemies of faith. Reprove them, correct them, and if they fail to repent, have nothing to do with them. Often, the enemies of the saints will be those of their own house, i.e. in the church of the living God. Be not weary in well doing.

Eighth: Be not tempted to fall prey to the wisdom of the world. Learn afresh the Wisdom of God and follow it carefully. Be careful, and well versed in the precepts of the Scriptures, for in the multitude of the counsels of God there is safety.

Ninth: There will be much uncertainty. Do not let this discourage you. You are on a need-to-know basis. When you need to know it, God will reveal it through His Word to you as you study with diligence. God is in the unknown, therefore fear not what seems now to be uncertainty, for God is near.

Tenth: Talk much of what you are learning. Sound the trumpet of Godís Holy Word and attempt to put it into practice. Inspire the masses. You need only to speak to other parents and place questions in their mind. Share with them information, and helpful data. Encourage and build up.

Eleventh: Build strong alliances. Use the tools God has given you. Write letters. Write editorials. Research Reformed and Biblical web sites and various institutions. Seek Godly men and women who are of Scriptural knowledge and Godly esteem and network with them.

Twelfth: Beware of burnout but do not loose momentum.

The nuts and bolts of Home Education can vary with each family. There is no set agenda nor does there have to be a set curriculum. Order, however, is necessary. Some curriculums are excellent, while others are just an arm of secularism, and the godless institution we are trying to be freed from. Do the homework, and pray for wisdom.

May God be pleased to direct all His saints into a proper vision of Biblical Righteousness and an eternal love both for our children, and the generations to come.

Unto the praise of the Glory of His Grace, and the Eternal Honor of His Kingdom, AMEN.
